WHO IS LEADING THE RETREAT?
Judson Cook is a Licensed Professional Christian Counselor (LCMHC) at the Carolina Care Center. Judson also has twelve years of pastoral ministry as discipleship and care pastor with a seminary degree. He has a special heart for counseling pastors and understands the unique challenges and burdens of ministry. Judson is also passionate about group counseling and how life change typically happens in relationships. He has led and facilitated multiple story groups and is excited to have the opportunity to walk together with pastors to help them discover how God is uniquely at work in their story.

WHAT IS A STORY RETREAT?
Story Retreats are a place where you can have permission to explore how the goodness and pain in your life has shaped you. Most importantly, this journey opens the door to transforming your future. During our time together you will walk through your story to discover shalom, shalom shattered and shalom restored that leads to deep and abiding peace.
WHY OUR STORIES MATTER
The experiences of our lives affect how we relate to ourselves, others, and God. Our story shapes our relationships, spirituality, calling, and purpose. When we have questions like, "Why am I like this?" or "Why do I believe God is that way?" or "What am I supposed to be doing with my life?" discoveries and insights can be found when we explore our story and then share it with others.
STORY IS KEY TO REAL CHANGE
Have you considered that over 70 percent of Scripture is narrative? That means the primary way God chose to reveal himself is through story. God knew stories would engage us on all levels: mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical. He created us not just to have a story, but to be a revelation of the good story of the gospel. Your life is meant to uniquely reflect something of the character and kingdom of God that no other story can. The work you do at a Story Retreat is an invitation to truth-telling, healing lament, deep soulfulness, and lasting change.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Pastor’s Story Retreat will be hosted at a soundside house on the intercoastal waterway with breathtaking views located in Swansboro, NC! Double decker decks overlooking the water give plenty of opportunites to have a cup of coffee and take in the beauty of God’s creation. The house is positioned on a one of a kind peninsula with room for yard games, fires and time with God. Walking distance from downtown Swansboro with great restaurants and an ice cream shop. Most trips will have the opportunity to take the boat on a tour of the crystal coast and secluded beaches only accessible by boat. Great opportunity to experience North Carolina’s crystal coast while experiencing life changing time with God and other pastors!
